We Loved World America!!!

Hello All! I usually do not write reviews for anything, but I do have to share our experiences on MSC World America. We thoroughly loved our cruise on this wonderful ship, which we sailed on during the week of June 21-28. We went into this cruise with open eyes. We read all of the reviews and comments and said we would give MSC a shot. We are so glad we did. We loved the international flavor of all of the passengers mixing together. Sure, there were some people who we Americans might say are rude in their manners, but we let that not get in the way of our enjoyment and vacation. This cruise was exactly what the doctor ordered. This review may be a bit long, so please bear with me. Embarkation - We’ve only sailed on 5 previous cruises (4 with RC and 1 with Carnival) and World America was the smoothest and quickest of them all. We had the Aurea experience so that provided us with priority boarding. We parked our vehicle in the terminal parking garage at about 11:15 am, dropped off our luggage with the porters, went through the security and check in process, and dropped off our carryon luggage in our cabin in a matter of 40 minutes. It could have been closer to 30 minutes, but I had to stop at customer service to get a question answered. We had literally no wait under the Aurea experience. I was able to look over at the other line for Bella and Fantastica and even though there was a line (we had no line), it was moving rather quickly. We were also able to check in with our muster assembly station on our way to our cabin. When we arrived there, our cruise cards were hanging on the door and we were set to go. We still had to watch the safety video, so we did that once we sat down to eat at the buffet. I believe we had to do before we could use our cruise card for anything. A very pleasant start to our vacation! Ship - The layout of all the decks of World America is well designed. It was quite luxurious, but not gaudy. We were able to easily find everything on all of the decks. The ship never felt very crowded with about 6700 passengers, except for those times when shows let out or during embarkation. The elevator system was fantastic. All you had to do was press the number of the deck you wanted to go to when you arrived at the elevator and you were assigned a specific elevator. We never had to wait long for an elevator to arrive and were never cut in front of, unlike what we experienced on other cruises. Sure, there were times when people tried to get on the elevator when we were getting off, but once they realized we were moving, they waited their turn (most of the time, that is). Great system of “crowd control” when moving people around the ship. Cabin - We were in an Infinite Oceanview cabin. We were originally going to book a balcony, but my wife suggested we go with an oceanview cabin, since we may be out and about the ship a lot and not make full use of the balcony. We only booked about a month out from the sailing date and it looked like we snagged the last Infinite Oceanview cabin. We are so glad we did! The room had a fantastic layout. Plenty of room to move around, relax, etc. The usable living space was actually larger than the balcony. Our cabin had approximately 220 square feet of living space, whereas the balcony cabin had about 190 square feet with a 35 square foot balcony. The top half of the window could be opened - giving you the effect of having a balcony. We absolutely loved this as an option when choosing a cabin. There was plenty of closet space for the two of us and at first, it looked like we might. To have enough shelf and drawer space for other clothing in the closet. We were fooled! Plenty of shelves in other parts of the cabin that worked quite well for us. The bathroom also appeared to be a bit larger than the other cruise ships we sailed on and I didn’t feel like I had to be a 97 pound ballerina turning around in the shower on my tiptoes. The plugs did seem to be a little challenging, though. We had two American plugs and three European plugs. Not a big deal since we were able to adapt using our USB cords for our devices and charging mats for the iPhone, watch, and AirPods. The only problem with this arose when my wife wanted to use her hair dryer. Due to the length of the plug, we couldn’t plug into the wall, but this was solved by using the dryer provided in the cabin. The work around for the next cruise will be to buy some European-to-American adapters for our next MSC cruise. We may not need them for anything, but at least we have them just in case. Food - We only ate at the buffet and in the MDR, except once when we grabbed a burger on Deck 6. For the most part, we found the food to be good, although some dishes could have used some slight added seasoning. No matter the night, you could find dishes that were being served in the MDR also on the buffet. No complaints in either venue. In the MDR, we had a great waiter and assistance waiter. On the first night, I wanted the Calamari Steaks and I should have listened to him when he asked me if I really wanted them. When I found that I didn’t like them, Glenn quickly took them away and served me a prime rib that melted in your mouth. There were plenty of choices throughout the week and we never went away wanting more. Pizza in the buffet and on Deck 6 was fantastic. The burgers on Deck 6, though, were just OK. We heard that if you ordered them for lunch in the MDR, they were much better. Pools, Top 20 Solarium, Spa. - We didn’t sit by the pools all that much since we wanted something a little more on the quiet side. We did take a look at the Zen pool (adults only), but there were only pools and no hot tubs, so we passed. The other pools on deck 18 were busy and louder than we wanted, but we never saw them so crowded that no one could enjoy themselves. We loved relaxing at the Top 20 Solarium, which is only for Aurea and Yacht Club guests. Plenty of lounge chairs and room in the hot tub no matter what the time of day. The solarium is open to children, but there are no activities for the kids, so essentially, the solarium becomes an adult venue for the most part. MSC polices this area quite well. We were asked to show our cruise cards from time to time to ensure we were allowed there. They even kicked out a group of teenagers that were trying to use the solarium. Turns out that two of the teens were Aurea and they thought they could bring their friends in with them. They were gone within 30 seconds. I never saw this happen on Royal when kids entered the adults-only solarium. Thank you, MSC. We also had access to the Thermal Suite as part of our package. We tried it towards the end of the cruise (we’re really not spa people) and we walked out wondering why we didn’t use it earlier in the week. We enjoyed the relaxation and it was a great soothing process for my aching shoulder. We will definitely make more use of the spa on our next cruise. Ocean Cay - This island is beautiful. Very clean and lots for everyone to do depending upon how active you want to be. We just enjoyed going in the water to cool off and then relaxing under an umbrella. We do have two suggestions for MSC to consider. First, they need moire trolleys taking people around the island, especially at the beginning of the day. We had to wait almost 45 minutes for a trolley to get us to the umbrella rental area on the North Beach. They should also consider establishing additional Trolley stops throughout the route. Crew - Everyone working on WA was very helpful and friendly. They were asking us how we were enjoying the cruise. Our cabin attendant was very attentive and went above and beyond what we expected. Whenever she saw us, she always asked how our meal was, if we went on an excursion, if we’re enjoying the pool, etc. She is definitely an asset to MSC! As mentioned earlier, our waiter and assistant waiter were excellent. All three quickly became like family as the week went on. Entertainment - We did not see either of the Dirty Dancing shows, so we can’t comment on them. We did enjoy Queen Symphonic and Cinesonic, both of which were in the Panorama Lounge. That more intimate setting, as compared to the World Theater, made the shows more enjoyable and interactive, in my opinion. We also saw Odyssey, Hall of Fame, Majestic (illusions) and CJ Illusions (magic) in the World Theater. These shows were good. If you’re expecting Broadway type shows, like you find on Royal, you will be disappointed. But if you’re looking for an entertaining show where you can enjoy the music, tricks, etc., you will enjoy yourself. Disembarking for Excursions - MSC has Royal and Carnival beat on this one, where getting off the ship to your excursion is nothing but chaos. World America had everyone meet in the World Theater at the meeting time and then called each excursion as a group. You would then follow a crew member to the meeting spot off the ship, where the excursion company then took over. It was still a bit chaotic as everyone was making their way to the buses, but it was definitely manageable. Disembarking - This was also handled quite well by MSC. They wanted everyone out of their rooms by 8 am so the crew could get the cabins ready in time for the next cruise. Everyone was assigned to a group based upon your level. We were assigned to group 4 and started disembarking at 7:20 am. Going through customs, etc. was very smooth and we were back to our vehicle and out of the parking garage by 8:05. Overall Impression - World America and MSC are making their mark and giving the other cruise lines a run for their money. We not only saved a lot of money going with MSC, but we got more bang for the buck. I would definitely advise everyone considering MSC to give them a shot. Your experiences may be different, but I’m sure you will enjoy yourself.

Stunning Ship with Variety, Creativity and Quality

This was our second time on this ship and it did not disappoint. They added two new shows, Momentous, an over the top amazing magic show performed in the theater and an incredible production show, Odyssey based on the book/theme. There was a Whitney Houston show, Queen show, Cinesonic show (movie songs/theme) in addition to the two Dirty Dancing shows. They could improve the Dirty dancing shows which were the only shows we did not enjoy because it was confusing to try to watch the performers dance as the movie played in the background. There are two different large venues for the shows: The World Theater and The Panorama Lounge. The Panorama Lounge is so big it could be called Panorama Theater. Both are beautiful high tech venues that can house many large performances. There were many game shows and parties onboard as well. The Love and Marriage Show hosted by Dr. E, our cruise director, was hysterical. There were the usual white party, tropical party and 80's party. They also just added an incredible fruit buffet as part of the buffet offerings. It was an unbelievable spread of exotic and other fruits such as fresh cherries, dragon fruit, guava, apricots, kiwi, clementines, mango, papaya, pomegranate as well as bananas, cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, grapes, apples, peaches and plums. On the last day they also served lobster in the buffet. From what I understand, this was the second week that they started offering these new menu items in the buffet. The food overall in the main dining room and buffet was excellent and creative. What an amazing variety! MSC is the only cruise line we have been on that serves swordfish as well as calamari steaks. A favorite appetizer was a salmon poke bowl. Very creative and unique. There was a great variety of different fish served in the MDR. In addition to swordfish, there was fish such as barramundi, red snapper, and grouper. They had a huge variety of desserts as well. For example, the variety of cookies they served in the buffet included chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, orange chocolate chip cookies, mint chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, macadamia nut cookies, choc-macadamia nut cookies.. There was a huge variety of delicious cakes and other desserts as well. They even had two varieties of cannolis-chocolate chip as well as traditional. There was a different scoop ice cream in the MDR such as butter pecan, hazelnut etc.. every night in addition to chocolate and vanilla. The desserts in the MDR were also phenomenal--especially the Tiramisu, NY Cheesecake and the Key Lime Pie. The sugarless chocolate cake tasted so good that I forgot it was sugarfree! There are three other complimentary food venues, but the one that has seating is Pizza and Burgers (deck 6)where you can get pizza, burgers, wings, chilli, fruit salad, potato salad, mac and cheese, nachos, soft serve, fries, chicken fingers, and hot dogs late into the night. The other two eateries are Promenade Bites and Harbor Bar & Bites (deck 8). They are grab and go. You can get snacks such as popcorn, cotton candy, and hot dogs at Promenade Bites. At the Harbor Bar and Bites (deck 20)you can get empanadas, hot dogs and other snack foods. They also have scoop ice cream-which is for a fee. As for the Specialty restaurants, we have been to Pazos, the Greek Restaurant as well as Kaito Sushi Bar and Butcher's Cut. Although they were all pretty good, for the overall dining experience and food itself, my favorite was Butcher's Cut. The rack of lamb was truly amazing. Kaito also has a section where it is a Teppanyaki restaurant experience separate from the sushi bar. There is also Hola, a Mexican restaurant, and an italian restaurant, Eataly. Again, a lot to choose from-something for everyone. There were so many activities, live music, shows and games throughout the ship. The ship itself offers four different waterslides, one Jaw Drop regular long slide as well as an extensive rope course and the Cliff Hanger swing. For younger kids there is a small waterslide and a nice sized splash pad area. The indoor sports complex is home to many sports including pickleball, soccer and basketball. On specific days/times they also have bumper cars, roller skating, and drone academy for kids where the kids fly drones through an obstacle course. There is also a lego room filled with legos and lego table for kids and big kids to enjoy. There are two different areas where you can find arcade games. In addition, there is a virtual reality game/experience. In addition to that, movies are shown on the big screen at the pool deck and MSC, unlike some other cruiselines, does not charge for popcorn. This ship has many hot tubs. Some of the hot tubs are extremely spacious-approximately three times the size of the usual hot tub found on a ship. There are two med sized pools in the adults only Zen area. The main pool deck has one very large rectangular pool with a shallow area separating two deeper parts. Inside, there is also a pool with a retractable roof. The staterooms are spacious with a lot of outlets and storage space. The bathroom is comfortable and modern with a decent sized glass shower door. The stateroom-as well as the ship as a whole-is kept incredibly clean. Although the ship is big and was filled to capacity during our cruise, it never felt crowded. There are so many elevators that you never felt anyone had to squish in to have a spot. The buffet had plenty of seating on deck 18, but you could also go to the smaller buffet on deck 19. We never had a problem finding a seat in the buffet. The only problem was seating for the comedy shows in the Loft venue. The comedy shows should all be in the World Theater or the Panorama Lounge. It would definitely be more comfortable. The Loft/Bar venue should keep the dueling pianos and maybe some add other small live musician acts. The casino was very spacious and non-smoking for the most part. The only portion that was smoking was a small part to the side that was completely glassed-in. This made for a much more comfortable and pleasant experience whether you were gambling or just walking through the casino to get to another area of the ship. The service in general was excellent and everyone was eager to make sure you enjoyed your cruise--going above and beyond at times. We loved this, our second MSC World America cruise, even more than we did the first time. What a great experience--and great value as well! We will be back soon.

10+ Cruises: 50s

MSC World America is the best

This is my 31 Th cruise is is my favor ship so far.The ship is so beautiful on desk 8 where the light and palm tree show are my favor spot, they have so many free yoga class in the morning at 2 at 4 and 5 in the evening everyday this is the only ship I see is free some of the class is good just show up they have mat for you.The entertainment in theater and the panoramic both are the best at sea top not, lot of thing to do I never have enough time to enjoy it all. Lot of time I have to skip dinning in main Restaurant so I can go to the event. I don't know why people never happy alway give Msc bad review maybe they don't like don't like because is not their American cruise line. I did go with many cruise line. Carnival for me were the worse even I go on Carnival Mardigrass when is were new were horrible lunch and dinner buffet have nothing to choose street food some just o.k and restaurant free to eat only few menu o.k and not much thing go on for entertainment and party at night or compare to Msc cruise but they rate Carnival very high . I just don't know why I think it because they are American cruise line . The only cruise line I have not go is Princess, Virgin and holland, MSC is my favor cruise line so many thing to do and love the music, they have the best music and DJ never feel boring the entertainment team are always the best to get you in the party mood, on this ship the panoramic theater will turn into a night club at night until 2-4 in the morning is the most nicest club at sea. If you are a party person don't miss all the party at night they have specially white party and the 60 70 80 party and tropical party is so much fun. they have the best live band music I love the sunshine band is my favor. love they have the most elevator at sea never wait long. both theater you are alway can get in after all reservation people if you get in early right after you will have sit in panoramic I never have problem to find sit even I don't have reservation. people complain can't get drink during the show in both theater, wow there are ton of hundred people watching the show for only short 45 minutes so crown of people and you expect to serve drink during the show go and get your own drink please no complain some cruise line theater don't even allow you drink in there. With NCL you hardly to get ien to see show if you don't have reservation. For the food they have very good prime rip and steak the best to compare my hudband very picky on the beef but beef on this ship are the best. MSC add more free food and wing, fry and pizza till 2:00 am at desk 7 or desk 6 which is very good. the pizza are alway good. We have lobster for two night one in main dinning room and one on last night in the buffet maybe is a new ship. we went on rob course is nice love the two zip line, the water slice we went on a port day so there is no line which is very good we did try swing one time is good to get the experience, we see people do roller skate and bumber car and pickle ball which we did not do, Msc world America have the most pool chair big nice hot tub every where you always can find chair and get in hot tub and in the cover pool is have so many nice lough chair bed and always chair for you look so high end, they invest in so many entertainment for every age. My daughter is 22 is her 29 cruise and she love this ship the most for her even compare to royal is more fun at night on msc then royal at night lot of ship on Royal at night is so boring some of show I walk in and walk out no good music or party at night at all. on some ship, I known a couple they go on cruise ship 10 month out of 12 year to year back to back each time they go they stay on ship for 4 to 6 week. I just saw them again on Msc Word America they stay for 6 week and they just come back on Icon of the sea I ask them to compare. They both say they love the best MSC world america of everything and MSC always their favor, they always stay in the Yacht club. If you don't enjoy music, show, entertainment, party and dancing or go to lay out pool and hot tub, msc have the most nice pool and many hot tub around the ship compare to other, then MSC is not for you if you just want relax eat and sleep may be just go see one or couple show for the whole cruise then maybe go on royal food maybe good for you but the money you paid will be high. normal I don't like do review but this time I feel I have to write some with my 31 cruise experience. people always complain food and thing these people love to complaint and they feel MSC is their mother in law that why!!! for the food the worse is Royal grandure of the sea food were horrible for the 7 night and Anthem of the sea food in dinning are good but at night is so boring show are boring walk in walk out event my two teen and over 22 year old at night no music or party at all only one night sillen disco for 45 munites that all for the 7 night cruise no night club or entertaiment team at all. compare to my 31 cruise and the best food is MSC Peosia , but back then the entertainment on this ship is not good compare to now.
