While everyone loves a holiday, be it bucket and spade, adventure or cruise, there is one thing to remember when you get off a cruise ship: It may not be there when you come back!

Hotels stay put

Hotels are kind of stuck in the mud (or ground) so to speak... they don't go anywhere. Day after day, you are presented with that same slim sliver of sea view that you paid extra for from your hotel window, craning your neck to see whether there's a free sun lounger around the pool.

You can be sure of one thing though - when you go out for the day, your hotel will still be there when you get back. Take a cruise however and you can holiday in a different way- one that gives you a different view to wake up to, and a different location to experience nearly every single day! There's just that one thing to remember: hotels stay where they are, but cruise ships can leave without you!

Cruise ships move you

Seriously though, why not swap a stuck in the mud single location for a fluid, multi destination week or two, where your hotel (or ship) travels to a new location daily, a holiday where you only unpack once, but manage to visit several cities or beaches, all without lifting a finger and mostly travelling while you sleep?

Imagine that magical moving hotel, packed full of fantastic restaurants, bars and facilities, nightly stage shows and musical performances, all there for you to enjoy, but also delivering you to the door of a new and exciting spot nearly every day of your vacation!

If you're bored of the same old view on your holiday - maybe it's time to take the plunge and try out a cruise to your favourite Mediterranean cities or Caribbean Islands, or even further afield - the world is your oyster and your ship brings the destinations to your door!

Explore with a shore excursion

And don't worry - you needn't get left behind! If you do want to get off and enjoy a day in port, you can take one of three options:

1. Book a cruise ship organised trip (shore excursion). You can be guaranteed that the ship won't leave without you if you're in an official cruise line group... they will hold your floating hotel and adventure until you return! Official excursions can be a bit pricey though, so you may want to consider...

2. Doing your own thing- Pick up the onboard magazine or check the ship daily sailing times on your smart app, so you know the earliest you can get off (disembark), and the latest you can get back on (embark), before the Captain blows the horn and your comfy bed sails into the sunset... without you! This is undoubtedly the cheapest way to enjoy your destination. And also hopefully the next port of call on the itinerary too! Or alternatively...

3. Book your shore excursion through My Kind of Cruise. We ensure our suppliers always provide full cover for your tour, so you will get back to the ship in time for that sailaway cocktail and sunset view, ready to discuss the day's adventure with your fellow passengers! This is one of the most cost-effective ways to get the most out of your cruise holiday and tick those bucket list destinations off your list!
