The most suitable location is usually a cabin in the middle of the ship, close to the waterline on a lower deck. This area tends to experience less movement than the front or back of the ship and higher decks, which can make it a more comfortable choice if you are prone to seasickness.

Generally, yes. Lower decks tend to move less than higher decks, although the exact experience depends on the ship and sea conditions. A lower-deck cabin near the middle of the ship can be a good combination for reducing the sensation of movement.

Cabin type is a matter of personal preference. An inside cabin can be helpful if looking at the horizon makes you feel worse, while a window or balcony may help some people orient themselves and get fresh air. If you choose a balcony, a midship location on a lower deck is generally preferable.

If possible, avoid cabins at the very front or back of the ship, as well as cabins on the highest passenger decks. You may also prefer a cabin away from areas with noticeable vibration or engine noise. Your cruise adviser can help identify suitable locations on the deck plan.

Spend time outdoors looking towards the horizon, keep hydrated, eat light meals and avoid excessive alcohol. Some travellers use seasickness medication, acupressure bands or other remedies, but you should ask a doctor or pharmacist for advice before travelling, especially if you take other medicines or have a medical condition.
