When travelling abroad, you should generally have at least six months of passport validity remaining from the date you return to the UK. Passport rules can vary by destination and nationality, so check the requirements for every country on your itinerary before travelling.

If you are a non-EU national, including a UK traveller, your passport should usually be valid for at least three months after the date you intend to leave the EU country you are visiting. It must also have been issued within the previous 10 years. Any additional months added to a UK passport by the UK Government may not count towards this requirement. Check the latest rules on the .

Visa requirements depend on your nationality, the countries visited, the ports of embarkation and disembarkation, and how long you spend in each destination. In some cases, a visa may be available through the cruise line while onboard, but this is not guaranteed and should be confirmed with the cruise line.

If you are travelling within Europe, apply for a GHIC card where eligible to help cover reciprocal healthcare treatment. A GHIC is not a replacement for comprehensive travel insurance, so you should have both. You are responsible for obtaining the correct passport, visas and vaccinations before travelling. Failure to meet entry or health requirements could prevent you from embarking or lead to cancellation and additional costs.
