Things to do
With a name inspired by an early Virgin Atlantic plane, Scarlet Lady is Virgin Voyages' premium take on what a luxury cruise ship means - sailing from the vibrant shores of Miami. Ushering in a new era for sea travel, she's designed with a unique approach to how cruises look and feel.

The Manor
This kick ass, two story, two bar space, named after Richard's first recording studio, is inspired by the coolest clubs on land layered with a moody and sexy 70’s punk vibe. The Manor will host a ground-breaking, immersive dining entertainment experience, to kick the night off before it transitions into a mind-blowing, goodbye-early-morning-workout nightclub.

The Red Room
There’s a lot that’s special about The Red Room. It’s the first transformational theater at sea, featuring different modes which enable a variety of unique and engaging experiences.
Proscenium Mode: The most common theatre layout where Sailors won’t be more than 50 feet from the stage.
Alley Stage: Sailors face each other with the action separating them.
Flat Floor: With Sailors in the middle of the action with the show happening all around and direct access to a bar.
Dining Options

The Wake
The Wake brings a modern twist to the classic chophouses of the mid-20th century. Once you've made your way down the grand staircase, you'll enter a world that harks back to the old steakhouse, three-martini-lunch days of Madison Avenue ad men. But, thankfully, with gender equality now and, you know, no cigar smoke.

Pink Agave
Inspired by Mexico’s red-hot culture and sexy food scene, the experience at Pink Agave goes far beyond the usual taco. Shareable, social, and spicy — it transports you to the vibrant streets of Mexico City on an immersive odyssey of local cuisine. With the largest selection of tequila and mezcal at sea, and DJ beats to amp up the energy, we won’t judge if you order one of everything… and end up dancing on tables by the end of the night.

Perfect
I haven't done a lot of cruises but this Virgin cruise left me planning the next one, but ONLY on Virgin. The service was almost unbelievably perfect; everyone was polite, knowledgeable and personable. The cabin was actually a little bigger than I expected, and comfortable. The dining was also unbelievably perfect; wide range of top-notch restaurants and the galley offered everything you could ever want. I loved how the managers of each restaurant, even the galley stopped by the table to see if everything was OK. The entertainment was also good but some we couldn't get into because of the crowds and small venues. The ports we visited were just what we wanted and the service to get to shore was organized and easy. The cruise offered a lot of top shelf excursions at reasonable prices. There were so many activities that we did not get to them all. Anyone who says they are bored on sea days are crazy. I could go on but the cruise was just perfect.

Mediterranean Adventure
First time on Virgin and it did not disappoint. While not the newest boat in the fleet, you wouldn't know it by the looks. Everything was freshly painted and clean. Below is just one man's opinion and nit picking more than anything. Pros -Adults only -Quiet rooms -Hot showers with really good water pressure -Arcade: Games straight from 80's. Donkey Kong anyone? -Specialty food stands: Made to order pizzas and burgers. -Majority of the food is made to order. Not your traditional buffet. Quality is so much better. -Some of the entertainment was top notch. -Arrival and departure were well communicated and easy to navigate. -All inclusive (minus specialty drinks and foods) -Good mix of TV shows and movies. Rooms have mood lighting. Cons and Just Okays -Housekeeping: Don't expect your bed to be made as if by a marine. More like neatly made. Bathroom is more picked up after then cleaned like a hotel room. -Entertainment was a mixed bag. Slam Allen was onboard and was great. Not every act can be expected to be top notch. One of my biggest pet peeves the boat cannot control, and that is loud, obnoxious passengers. What they can control are the spaces that entertainers are placed. A loud crowd around a rock and roll band is fine, but a group of people laughing and carrying on while the performer plays an acoustic guitar is just wrong. Having spaces where it is more about entertainment and less about gossiping and yelling. Some people are trying to enjoy the music after all. -Excursion: More scrutiny on the vendors they recommend. Do your own research before selecting one that sounds amazing in the description but is not in reality. This was a theme among many people we spoke to. -Staff engagement: Again, not a problem at all for us, but it was very noticeable. Many cruise lines clearly coach their staff to interact and make eye contact with all guests, all of the time. This is definitely not the Virgin way. I didn't meet one angry or unprofessional person, but passed many an employee who did not acknowledge me. Same goes for my wife who is definitely outgoing. It was noticeable because of what I am used to. You are more left to your own devices in some ways. It is an adults cruise after all. Again, not a problem for me. Just an observation. -No quiet spaces. There were places that are quiet adjacent but not quiet purposeful. Celebrity for example has a library area that is quiet and relaxed. Virgin has nooks and crannies to sit in that aren't by a bar. Overall, we loved it and had a great time.

Comments from virgins Virgin Voyages
Alright, let's get this out of the way. We were Virgin Voyages virgins. After sailing with lines like Costa, MSC, and Holland America, we thought we knew the cruise world inside and out. We were wrong. Our trip from Barcelona to Civitavecchia on the Scarlet Lady completely reset our expectations of what a vacation at sea can be. A Whole New Way to Cruise I'll be honest, it takes a day or two to get into the groove. If you're used to the traditional cruise routine—set dining times, a massive main dining hall, formal nights—you have to unlearn all of that. Virgin throws that old rulebook overboard. The freedom is incredible. The ship has a vibe that's more like a cool, adults-only boutique hotel than a classic cruise ship. It’s relaxed, it’s modern, and you do things on your own schedule. Once we got used to it, we absolutely loved it. The Food is a Game-Changer Let’s talk about the food, because wow. Forget everything you think you know about cruise dining. There are no buffets with lukewarm food sitting under heat lamps. Instead, you get over 20 different eateries, and they are all included. And then there's The Test Kitchen. This place isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience. It’s part cooking school, part science lab, where you get a tasting menu that is creative, surprising, and absolutely delicious. The chefs are pushing boundaries here, and honestly, the quality and innovation are Michelin-star worthy. It was a culinary highlight, not just of the cruise, but of our year. Beyond that, from the incredible steak and seafood at The Wake to the amazing Korean BBQ at Gunbae, the quality was consistently high. This alone makes it worth it. Entertainment and a Crew That Cares The entertainment is fresh, modern, and genuinely engaging. But the real secret weapon of Virgin Voyages is its crew. On many other cruises, the staff are friendly but often seem rushed off their feet. On the Scarlet Lady, the crew has time for you. They stop for a chat, they remember your name, and they seem genuinely happy and relaxed themselves. This creates a level of service that feels personal and authentic, not just scripted. It makes a huge difference. The Verdict For us, this trip was a 10 out of 10, hands down. It was a completely different experience that ruined us for other cruise lines in the best way possible. One pro tip: the best restaurants are popular, so book your spots through the app as soon as you can. It guarantees you won't miss out on amazing meals like the ones at The Test Kitchen. If you’re looking for fantastic food, a relaxed atmosphere, and service with a genuine smile, you have to give Virgin a try. We boarded as first-timers, but we definitely left as converts.
