Wonderful
Having read some negative reviews I felt prepared for itinerary but not for the ship. How wrong were we. We are currently on this cruise embarking October 17 from Tokyo. Embarkation took five minutes maybe less. Many helpful supportive staff.guiding the process. The ship is beautifully refurbished, the cabin absolutely more than comfortable. Our cabin attendant Mistan could not do more. Housekeeping twice a day, with a very clean cabin. Buffet a cut above other cruise lines, far more staff ratio than other cruises. At dinner in the main dining room there was a small issue, by the time we had finished dinner this was resolved for the remainder of the cruise. Itinerary with only three sea days. I cannot understand the negative reviews or comments. Drinks were costly but we were lucky as we had a drinks package included in our purchase. Basic WiFi is as expected, and appears to be working.

Excellent ship and staff
The start of the cruise was in Tokyo which we loved. Buzzy, clean and fantastic underground trains. Boarding the ship was so straight forward and with no queues at all - so well thought out. The whole ship has been updated last November with lovely seating/lounge areas throughout. We have a balcony cabin with plenty of space and a roomy feel. Bathroom spotless with glass and marble shower and plenty of hot water. The food in both the buffet and main metropolitan restaurant was excellent with attentive waiters and head waiters. I am ceoliac ( gluten free) they went to great lengths to give me varied dishes whilst still keeping me safe. The ports were fantastic, we saw so much of Japan and enjoyed a full day in South Korea. All in all a fantastic trip I would highly recommend. We booked all our own guides in each port which worked very well.

Great ship, but I would not travel Japan in August
The ship was in really good condition given it's age. Some other guests that we met were complaining about the age of the ship, but we really didn't see anything associated with age to comment on. Maybe they just meant that it doesn't have some of the features they are building into the new ships. So far as the physical plant, everything we encountered was well maintained. We recently took a cruise on another ship different line, and there would always be a line at the ice / water machine in the buffet because it was the only one working, so I one of the things I noticed was that all that kind of stuff worked. You don't realize it until you experience it not working. The staff were all great. Turn down service / twice a day housekeeping is great. Always had fresh towels. The casino being non-smoking is a treat but the machines seemed pretty tight. The poker tournaments went off with enough players (at least 6) like 70% of the time. The buyin is $100 for 1000 chips or $150 for 2000 chips. No rebuys. Top two take money and the rake is somewhere around 30%. Blinds start at 25/50 and go up every ten minutes so it's very turbo feeling and over in about an hour. The cash games are $2/$5 with a minimum buy in of $200 and I think max buyin of $600. It was too rich for the ship and I don't think they ever got a game going.
