The view from my level
I loved the experience my family and I enjoyed ourselves but for me I’m disabled and things are not so handicap friendly on the ship and on the islands. I felt left out of allot of things because I couldn’t go because in Nassau the beach is far so you have to get a ride to it and I’m on a motor ride so I can’t go to the beach and that machine can’t go in the sand so no beach for me or being pushed in those wheelchair’s with the big wheels are a hassle because I’m over 300 pounds and it’s a challenge for a man to push you in the sand andI had women with me, so no beach at all for me. Felt out so went back to the ship. On the ship it’s very tight for the riding things can go. In the elevator is a hassle they’ll close on you even when you push the handicap button. Couldn’t go into the bars because of the tightness, no karaoke unless I’m staying sitting in that chair and not into a comfortable chair. And the people look at you like your aliens do to spend as much as we did and to me treated as so I wasn’t very happy but I out a happy face in for the family. I will say the food was good, the drinks were good but too high and good company. The employees are all so very nice and that’s appreciated for me in my condition! I could say more but I’ll save it for the next time!!

Great time for us!
Overall this was a great cruise for us and our 10yo - We aren't the dance club type and could have used more trivia or game activties (we'd done Disney which did a lot of these) - but otherwise were pleased! Kids Club has limited hours and the 7pm checkin line would be 30+ Mins Long -- this is something RC could definitely improve in. They also hit capcity all night and had people waiting for someone to checkout in order to get in. Lifeguard Manager Kevin was great at helping diffuse bullying of 3 boys who were hitting our son and he was much appreciated in making them leave the area. Main Dining Staff Imade and Ngurah were the best we've had on a cruise - and we've been cruising yearly for 10+years - caring for our 10yo and us, and recognizing us even in the early hours on the promendade. They remembered our preferences and went above and beyond. Sim who worked the zipline and the Abyss - remembered our kids name in the short amount of time we were there - and the next days.

From Carnival to Utopia - My First RCCL Experience
Even though i'm new to cruising, i've been on 12 Carnival cruises in the last 2 1/2 years! Not yet at Platinum, Carnival's recent loyalty changes triggered me to look elsewhere, so I decided to try Royal Caribbean for a 3-day weekend birthday cruise on Utopia with my wife and 3 good friends. Embarkation Day blew us all away. I really do like cruising Carnival, but everything with Royal on that first day was a little bit better. The Port process was incredibly smooth. We had a 10:30-11am arrival time, and were on the ship by 10:25am! The ship was amazing - it was a non-stop party from the moment we stepped on. We went straight to the Bell & Barley Pub, where Harvey was working (i do my research!), and all had their Stout Expresso Martini - it was amazing. Side note, we tried it a couple more times on different days with different bartenders, and no-one came close to making it like Harvey. We immediately did our Muster station (less than 30 seconds!), and then went on a brief ship tour. Our first food stop was the Windjammer buffet. I love buffets; this one was great - each time we went the food and options were more than enough. We purchased the beverage package (cheaper than Carnival and works on Royal's Coco Cay) - and we drank - quite a lot, as we chilled at the pool and danced during the Sail Away party. The vibe of the Sail Away was great - it's not close to the high energy participation you get on Carnival - so I missed that, but certainly enjoyed my time. The Main Dinning Room meals were really good. The appetizers were exceptional. The main course options were a little hit or miss and very similar quality to Carnival. Overall food quality I would say is a bit higher. We did try Chops one evening and that was great! Day 2 we switched itineraries due to the storm from Nassau to Coco Cay. Which was a great move, as we'd purchased the Adult Hideaway Beach and were so excited to get to see the Island. Hideaway Beach was amazing. I don't mind kids on the ship, but loved having an adult party environment. I spent time swimming in the small cove there and had a small stingray brush up to my feet and also saw a couple pretty large rays too. The pool area and party was great (until someone decided to throw up in the pool - "everyone out!"). The food was okay - we tried quite a few of the options, but very plain and it was the most bland we had the whole cruise. Day 2 we had reservations for Aqua80 Too - THE BEST SHOW I HAVE SEEN - we were all blown away - do not miss it - totally wonderful :). Day 3 - we were getting tired, but luckily it was a sea day; so we started the day with the zipline, then had a great late breakfast at the Windjammer. It rained a bit on and off with staying ahead of the storm, so we spent time in the Solarium - relaxing in the shallow pool loungers or time in the hot tubs. In the evening we did the silent toga party in the solarium. Initially it was a blast, but the Solarium was HOT, and they quickly moved all 3 dance channels to pretty hard core club music, which killed the variety vibe. I think they missed the mark and left disappointed. Disembarkation was a breeze too, and we got to do the leisurely 5 1/2 hour drive home via a breakfast Buc-ees! We all enjoyed the cruise, but I think that was more down to the ship rather than the specific cruise line. Would be happy to hear from people who have tried other options that hit the mark for them!
