Ambassador Ambition cruise
Loved the ease of embarking in Belfast. All of the crew and staff on board were fantastic. Very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. My wife has a folding mobility scooter and at every port they were there offering to help her on and off the ship. The bar and waiting staff were very experienced and enthusiastic especially a lady called Fany, She was always smiling & singing. Our two waiters (sorry I didn't get their names) in the main dining room the Buckingham Restaurant table 33 were very enthusiastic and helpful and always ensured that we had everything we need. Our room attendant on deck 8 Gusti was so warm and friendly from we first met him and he always had our room clean and tidy & he was always checking if we had everything we needed. He even had brilliant towel animals for us. The food was lovely and there was very good range to choose from and everyone was catered for, vegeterians, vegans, gluten free and very fresh. There were 2 speciality restaurants on board and friends who tried the Indian restaurant 'Saffron' were very complimentary about it. Every night we got a newsletter informing us of the daily activities so we could plan our day and even on extra sea days (There's nothing you can do about the weather) there was something for everyone, from daily quizzes, game shows, choir practice, craft classes, even bingo. All of the shows in the Palladium theatre were of 'West end' quality and we can't compliment the entertainment team enough. All in all we had a fantastic cruise, unfortunately we didn't make it to Shetland but as I said you can't control the weather and can't wait to book with Ambassador again. We are only sad that there aren't more cruises leaving direct from Belfast

Definitely the warmest welcome at sea
Definitely warmest welcome at sea. Speedy boarding and disembarkation at Newcastle. Friendly attentive crew who were wonderful helping my disabled husband, nothing was a problem for them. Eeven managed to deliver spa treatments even though he cant walk and needed help transferring. Amazing food rivals lots of other cruise lines, lovely small ship and waiters efficient and attentive. Good management of food allergies. Cabin spotless and larger than many on smaller ships. We had an ocean view on deck 7 and it housed us all our luggage a mobility scooter and a walking frame and we never tripped over anything or felt over crowded. I had 'huge' suitcases and they both slipped under the beds with no effort. Plenty or wardrobe, shelf, draw space. Bathroom on the small side but adequate. Excellent entertainment throughout the ship, The Palladium theatre is spacious with handy little table for drinkies, Designated areas for wheelchair/mobility aid users and for those using crutches/sticks. Only real complaint the ship always felt cold, the cabins are lovely and warm as you can adjust AC up/down and we were cosy in bed, but the theatre is especially cold so take a wrap or jumper etc. Passengers are predominantly 50+ and no children on this cruise. Already booked for next year

No Frills Ship
Travelled on Ambition for Christmas and New Year. Paid to park at Tilbury Docks for the three weeks we were away, but as we arrived early we were prevented from entering the carpark by security who advised us to go to Asda and wait there! Not a great start but we did it. Returned to the carpark to be once again told we could not go in, despite it being almost empty. Security could not give any reason but would still not allow us entry. We lurked about and suddenly a lady from Ambassador called us over and apologised saying that was an error and allowed us in - we never saw the gang of security guards again - hopefully, they were sacked as they were very rude! We were then held outside the waiting area in a drafty corridor with all our luggage which soon filled up with passengers waiting to board. As we had booked a suite we were supposed to have priority boarding but this never happened. Despite this rocky start, once we boarded, our suite was lovely and we enjoyed our cruise very much. Everyone was really nice and we met some great fellow travellers - having cruised on many lines, we would not say that the food or entertainment was 5* and the ship was definitely no frills but probably perfect for the older traveller who likes bingo and crafting. The staff were all nice, everywhere was kept spotless and reception was always helpful. The size of the ship made it easy to get around and we were lucky to have a couple of sunny days to enjoy the hot tub and sit on the deck. We tried the Saffron Indian restaurant and enjoyed the food although the restaurant itself lacked any atmosphere. Overall, we had a nice holiday and were even invited onto the Captain's table - would recommend.
