First cruise on a Princess ship but won't be last.

Just completed our cruise on the beautiful Grand Princess. We had an excellent itinerary stopping at five ports on a seven night cruise. Highly recommend the Harbour Lights beach and snorkeling in Barbados. We took a water taxi over to Nevis and toured the island courtesy of a taxi driver at the port when we docked in St. Kitts. The Alexander Hamilton Museum was interesting and the Island is extremely clean and beautiful. We took island bus tours on the other islands so that we could see as much as possible and were not disappointed. The food on the ship was excellent. The service was outstanding. The entertainment on the ship was very fun. We had a piano player singer and guitar playing singer. Both were really good. The production shows were good as well. The best entertainers were the two gentlemen playing the string instruments (violin and Cello). They were fabulous and could play everything. We never missed their show. We highly recommend this ship.

34 Nights in the Grand Princess

We boarded the Grand Princess in San Pedro..Port of Los Angeles on October 15, 2025.. Embarkation was very easy..We had our medallion and passports..walked directly to one of the many agents waiting..used our medallions to check in.. then went directly to security to have our carry on luggage scanned..(small line) then walked directly onto the ship, where our medallion was scanned again.. walked to the elevator, down one floor to Fiesta Deck 6 and to our Window Suite where we would spend the next Three cruises. A total of 34 nights. The first cruise was a trans-canal to Ft. Lauderdale. The second was an 11-day to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The third cruise was 7-day back to San Juan.. Covered most of the Eastern and Southern Caribbean.. We encountered some stormy weather and missed a couple Mexican ports, Guatemala was an added port. Severe storms greeted us in Panama and actually damaged parts of the ship with flooding ..The Grand had probably never had that amount of water come down for that period of time. The boarding ramps into the new terminal were even damaged and caused passengers to wait a considerable amount of time before getting off the ship.. Excursions were cancelled.. My husband was on an excursion that was not cancelled, but told of water above the sidewalks as his bus drove to is destination.. Deck 14 Horizon Court, Pools, etc. was flooded. Now the crew jumps in and did an Awesome job of clearing off the water..there were quite a few buckets catching drips and fans drying out carpets everywhere.. if you can imagine looking into the windows of shops on deck 6 and seeing water streaming down the inside of the steamed up windows.. Quite a sight. crew and shop employees removed merchandise, fans on, water vacuuming going on everywhere.. The ship was a little worse for wear after this day, but the storm moved on, the rain stopped and the sun came out the next day.. I have to commend Captain Ravera..he gave constant updates to passengers, personally spoke to passengers and gave assurances that our ship was seaworthy and the water damage would be resolved. The next day was Canal day and it was perfect.. Only one shop was out of commission for a few days while walls were actually replaced. After the canal transit heading for Aruba, rough seas and a emergency medical evacuation by air gave us all pause, but it was handled perfectly. During all this we had wonderful meals, great entertainment, pool time and an occasional smooth sea day.. As we neared our destination, we caught the end of the current hurricane for more rough seas.. If you travel in September and October, you need to be prepared for this kind of cruise. it was exciting, some perfect days, some rough days. Service was excellent though everything. We had been to most ports, so didn’t always go ashore..We enjoy the aft adult only pool with steps into the pool rather than ladders..On these days it became our private pool.. maybe 3 people using pool and lounges until noon.. this happens on any cruise.. This was the longest of the 3 cruises and probably the most eventful.. the next cruise we hit the edge of another hurricane near St. Kitts and the winds were too high to dock safely, so we circled the harbor while another emergency evacuation was handled perfectly. Now sunshine and smooth seas on the rest of that cruise..our arrival in San Juan to the new Homeport of the Grand Princess You should know that their are Two separate cruise docs..one next to Old San Juan and the fortress and the other in the more commercial shipping area. We had the latter.. I understand that in a few months, the Grand will be docking in the other dock near old town.. The last of our 3 cruises was the smoothest, least exciting.. visited the beautiful southern Caribbean. People may say weren’t you scared? My answer was No! I went with my eyes open, you might note that we have cruised a lot.. I have complete confidence in the crew and officers on the Grand White Lady.. She is our favorite ship.. we’ve now had 37 cruises on her and I would recommend her to anyone who wants a real cruise experience on a beautiful smaller class ship that doesn’t seem so crowded, fewer children probably due to time of year and none of the fancy water slides and carnival rides on board. You do have excellent Food, and entertainment with the friendliest crew of any Princess ship in my opinion.

A Grand 4 days at sea

I needed a break and 5 days on the ocean was the trip, I needed. The Grand Princess is the oldest ship in the fleet. She was a nice size for me and offered everything I needed. I spent most of my time in the Sanctuary and enjoyed the ocean views and excellent service. My interior room was prefect for me and my cabin stewert was excellent. My only complainant about the cabin was the TV reception was spotty especially at night. I t was hard to watch a show or movie while getting ready for bed and the next day. I did not spend much time in the dining rooms. I only dined there for breakfast which was good. No specialty restaurants(sorry). Mostly the International Cafe for me for light snacks throughout the day. There were plenty of activities onboard plus many shopping opportunities and 24hr casino time. Vancouver Embarkation and Long Beach disembarkation were quick and easy. The Princess transfer back to LA was easy. I recommend the Grand.
