6-10 Cruises: 50s
Great Panama Canal full transit for young, retired
Great Panama Canal cruise September 2025. Embarkation in Brooklyn NY was smooth with fast moving lines in baggage drop, security and medallion pick-up. Promptly boarded at 11am. Room were announced ready about 45min later. Everything was spotless on board. Cabin Lido was amazing. Expensive but worth the indulgence. Cabin crew promptly introduced themselves and fulfilled all requests immediately, even anticipating our needs before we realized them. Dinning in Crow Grill and Sabitinis was delicious. Cruise didn't seem full and we were able to walk in without reservation for 730 dinners often. Buffet always had sometime different to eat if guest were willing to try new things together with roast, salads, veggies all the time. Standard breakfast fare always available. Some items in buffet hot plates never really felt more than luke warm unfortunately. Drink serve was always available. Frozen drinks a little watery but team has huge menu and will mix anything you request. Wine pairings with meals were great and we appreciated the suggestions. Enrichment lectures by Jacob were amazing and worthy of taking another cruise simply to enjoy thus activity. Hope more advertisement and slightly better time slot given to this guest speaker. Musicians on ship were playing somewhere at all times and easy to find a seat to enjoy a beverage and a listen. Evening productions were OK but real draw was the canal and Enrichment lecture. Panama, Aruba and Huatulco were the best ports. All others felt interchangeable as they were commercial ports or felt cruise ship sponsored but really the canal transit was the entire purpose in the journey. In compared to other cruises, we would return to Island Princess for young retired couples. Families with kids likely wouldn't have enough activities on this cruise but it was just right for us.

First Cruise after Covid (long time Cruiser)
Back cruising after Covid. Loved the Island Princess.!!!!!!!! Friendly, Friendly Staff. Nice Cabin on 11Th floor (Nice Balcony) Could not get a Mini Suite (Sold Out) Quiet Room. Food Was very good. Service was the best (Great dining service) Very Clean ship. Ship looked new. Entertainment was very good. Great Musicians on board. Dance instructor was very good. Really tried to make us feel special. Pickle ball court used by us. Remember, this is not a Club Med ship. If you want Club Med, book club med. Everyone was ultra friendly. The tours took some time by bus to get to the destinations Accordingly, we did not have as much time at the destinations we would have liked. In the afternoon on the big screen TV (pool side) Queen live in Canada Concert was played. Got some food, got a nice chair and watched Queen. Loved it. Had such a good time that I booked (on the ship) a 14 day cruise to Europe . Can not wait to go. Such Fun.

Family and Friends Christmas Adventure
I enjoyed most of the cruise, including the entertainment and some of the restaurants. However, the food buffets on the ship were nothing to brag about. I have had better on other cruise ships. They had a variety of dishes, but some of them tasted and looked like leftovers from the day before. The cabin was terrific, but the bathroom, especially the shower, was a bit too small. I do not recall the shower being that small on my other cruises, but I could be wrong. I visited the spa because I wanted to have a massage, but instead, I had a very beneficial acupuncture treatment, and it helped me to do some activities I had problems with before I boarded the ship. The assigned cabin steward was pleasant and always there when we needed something. The guest service desk employees were always friendly when they helped you. The only other part I did not like was the rocking, which reminded me of turbulence on an aircraft.
